4 200 BL&P customers still without power after Elsa

An estimated 4 200 Barbados Light & Power (BL&P) customers who lost electricity during the passage of Hurricane Elsa remain to be supplied.

This announcement was made by Manager, Communications and Government Relations at the BL&P Jackie Marshall Clarke this afternoon as she gave an update on the company’s restoration efforts.

Marshall Clarke said: “Our restoration for yesterday, Friday July 9, in Christ Church, Gibbons Stage Two. Round Rock in St Lucy, Mount Gay and Church Hill, Husbands. In St Phillip, Padmore Village, Sandford, Castle Heights, Bushy Park. In St Peter, Black Bess.

“In St Joseph, Melvin Hill, Cleaver’s Hill, Joe’s River, Saddleback, Todds Corner to Lower Parks, Dark Hole and parts of Bathsheba. In St Andrew, Babylon Road and Shorey Village. In St John, New Castle, St Margaret’s and the St John polyclinic. In St Thomas, Fisherpond”.

The Manager, Communications and Government Relations said the BL&P’s restoration schedule for Saturday, July 10 included Northumberland and Festival Village St Lucy, Indian Ground, French Village, Four Hill, and Mount Stepney, St Peter.

“In St Andrew, St Simon and Chalky Mount. In St Joseph, Bathsheba, Cattle Wash and Atlantic Park. In St John, Venture and Welch Village. In St Michael, Preconco, the Barbados Broadcasting Services and Belle. In St George, St Judes, Prerogative and Fisherpond. In St Philip, Mount Pleasant,” she said.

Marshall Clarke indicated that BL&P understands how difficult the service interruptions caused by Hurricane Elsa have been for customers. She said customers must be assured that the company is aware of those areas that are still without electricity and noted that restoration to the affected areas remains a priority for all in the office and in the field.

“Our aim is to ensure the most efficient and safe restoration of service as soon as possible. As always, we thank you for your patience and remain committed to this process,” she said. (AH)
