Businesses urged to reward customer loyalty

Corporate Barbados is being asked to give more value to customers as they remain loyal despite the economic challenges.

This was the message delivered by Anthony Clerk, Managing Director and CEO of Republic Bank Barbados, as the financial institution virtually launched its Republic Bank/PriceSmart VISA Platinum Card on Monday night.

“In light of everything our customers have been facing over the last year or so, it is imperative that corporate Barbados devises options that offer people greater flexibility, convenience and rewards for choosing to do business with us. This Republic Bank/PriceSmart card ticks all of those boxes; truly Republic Bank plus PriceSmart equals more benefits and more rewards,” he said.

Sharon Zephirin, General Manager of Retail and Operations at Republic Bank Barbados, explained that the new VISA card would add a host of benefits for clients as they shop and pay for services, locally and internationally.

“With the new Republic Bank/PriceSmart card, shoppers will enjoy four per cent cash back when they make their purchases at PriceSmart. This reward, we believe, is crucial in our current environment and can benefit our customers by covering one-off expenses, build credit, or even jump start savings. It’s the kind of reward system that shows our mutual customers that we value their business.

“For us at Republic Bank, it offers our clients further proof that we mean it when we say, ‘we are the one for you’. Additionally, shoppers will also earn one per cent cashback on any purchases made locally or internationally. Those rewards will be credited to your account monthly,” she explained

Additional features for clients include a preferred card holder programme and personal concierge service, free auto rental insurance worldwide, coverage of up to US$150 000 for international medical services, price protection for items customers normally buy with their card, and purchase protection from theft or accidental damage.

Chester Keller, General Manager for PriceSmart Barbados, said his company was proud to add another value to its service for customers.

“We recognize that we must continuously develop exciting new programmes and services for our members with additional benefits while our members continue to save. PriceSmart continues to emphasize its ongoing commitment to increasing value to its members, and rewarding their loyalty, through innovative initiatives and programmes.

“The introduction of the co-branded Republic Bank/PriceSmart VISA Platinum Card joins an already impressive line-up of reward programmes offered to our members, such as PriceSmart Platinum membership and Advantage Partners,” Keller said. (SB)
