Let me say from the outset that I am a prison officer and have served my country in this capacity with pride for many years. However, I am calling on the Government to carry out an urgent probe into the management of the prison.

And my concern goes much further than having to work in excess of 12 hours sometimes without compensation. There are serious issues in St Philip that I will not place here because I know they wouldn’t be published.

Years ago, Glendairy Prison was a powder keg waiting to explode and government ignored the many warnings and enquiries and the place get burn. If the same happens at Dodds, it might not be prisoners that light the match.
