BMS closely monitoring Hurricane Larry

The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring Hurricane Larry in the Atlantic, located near 13.5N 34.2W at 11:00 am

today Thursday 2, September 2021. This is about 2700km (1680 miles) east of Barbados.

However the BMS has advised that there are no watches are warning in effect for Barbados and the system does not pose any threat to Barbados at this time.

The system is currently moving towards the west at 17 mph with a minimum central pressure of 985 MB. Maximum associated winds have increased to near 80 mph.

Intensity Forecast: Larry is expected to go through rapid intensification during the next couple of days and is expected to become a major hurricane (Category 3 or higher) by tomorrow night, Friday 3rd September.

Track Forecast: A gradual turn towards the west-northwest is expected over the next few days. On its current track, this system is

expected to pass well north of the eastern Caribbean.
