Landscaper remanded over wounding, drug, traffic offences

A tearful plea for leniency failed to prevent a 35-year old-landscaper from being remanded to Dodds for the next 28 days in connection to several charges.

It will now be September 27 when Kemar Omar Corey Alleyne, of Croton Avenue, Eden Lodge, St Michael will make his next appearance before the District A Magistrates’ Court.

Alleyne is accused of wounding Dexter Reid on July 28, with intent to maim, disfigure or disable him or to do some serious bodily harm to him. He was not required to plead to the offence.

Alleyne is also charged with issuing the threatening words: “I gine shoot you, you woman and you child. I gine shoot everybody in Green Hill.”

The prosecution alleges the threat was made within the hearing of Stacia Greenidge on July 15 while along Eden Lodge, a public place, which was likely to cause her distress.

He pleaded not guilty to that charge but admitted to the charges of possession, possession with intent to traffic and supply of cannabis and a traffic offence – failing to observe a ‘no right turn’ on August 27.

The drugs were found when police conducted a search of the vehicle he was driving after they pulled him over for disobeying the traffic sign.

“That is just a little weed,” he told officers at the time about the drugs which weighed 114 grammes and had a $570 estimated street value.

It was also revealed by Station Sergeant Crishna Graham that the accused had missed his last court date.

“Be lenient on me,” he urged the court. “The officers had taken my phone which had in all of my dates.”

As he continued his application for bail, Alleyne stated: “The guy with the sword he attack me sir and his girlfriend is who making all these allegations. I am not a bad guy. All I do is smoke marijuana. These allegations are a lie.”

He added: “I swear I didn’t know I missed a court day”.

After considering the submissions, the Chief Magistrate remanded Alleyne and deferred the sentencing on the drugs and traffic offences until his next appearance.
