REGIONAL: Police search for another person following double murder

SOURCE: CMC- Police have detained one person and are searching for another in connection with the execution style murders of a Barbados-based woman and her Guyana Defence Force (GDF) boyfriend earlier this week.

Police said that the father of the child of Shanicka Forde, has been detained. Forde, 23, was shot and killed along with GDF Lance Corporal Daniel Fraser, 26, by a lone gunman on a bicycle on Wednesday.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told the online publication, News Room, that investigators are also looking for a second suspect.

“The situation is that we have one person in police custody and investigators are currently pursuing another suspect,” he said.

Police said that Forde had come to Guyana about a month ago and was scheduled to return to her homeland on Friday.

The couple has been together for over a year and relatives claimed that Forde came to Guyana to sort out her birth certificate to join the Barbados Army.

Police said that Fraser, who celebrated his birthday on August 30, died from a single gunshot wound to the chest, while Forde was shot three times, including one to her chest and other to her abdomen.
