Thompson passionate about helping expectant mothers

Thirty-two-year-old Tonieka Thompson is the founder of Ready Set Push which is a company that specialises in pre-packed labour and delivery bundles.

The graduate of the Garrison Secondary School said that as a mom herself she decided to create a hassle-free environment for moms-to-be by allowing them to have their hospital bags pre-packed with the basic essentials needed for both the mother and baby during their hospital stay.

“As a mom myself, and also expecting during this pandemic, I fully understand how moms would feel having to go around from store to store trying to get stuff together to prepare for their little one’s arrival. Ready Set Push was in the making two years before it actually came into fruition.

I decided to take a leap of faith during the first lockdown in 2020, when moms were complaining about not being able to get items for the hospital with all the places closed. I didn’t know how I was going to do it, but I believed and trusted in God. With the assistance and help from my mother and sister, I was able to kickstart Ready Set Push in May 2020. Since launching we have packed over 100 bags for expecting mothers,” she said.

Thompson said that giving back was always a passion of hers so much so that she also donates pre-packed items to expectant mothers who are not in a financial position to purchase said items from her business.

She said that her passion for assisting others was harnessed by watching her father give back to his community over the years.

“Giving back was always a passion of mine, anyone who knows me can tell you I’m all about charity. It began with me seeing my father give back to his community and assist a number of less fortunate children with meals.

Ready Set Push has assisted a number of expecting moms who have been affected by the pandemic with pre-packed hospital bundles during the Christmas season of last year and we are looking forward to helping even more this year by God’s Grace,” she said. The soon-to-be mother said that she knew that she would become an entrepreneur as both of her parents also run successful businesses.

“Being an entrepreneur is in my blood. Both my parents run successful businesses. And I always loved working for myself and having that flexibility with my time. It also puts me in a better position to be able to assist those
who need help.

My inbox is constantly flooded with persons requesting help, if not for themself for someone they know. So, I decided to get creative and come up with something that can help me to help them, as this pandemic has affected
so many of us in different ways and some are affected more than others.

I am currently working on a new business venture on personal care for moms after the baby, and how they can care for their bodies and keep that postpartum glow,” she said. Thompson’s word of advice for any expectant mother is to never give up.

“I see all mothers as heroes especially now, to bring a child into this world during the pandemic is very brave and
it is not at all easy with the restrictions put in place.

My advice to all moms facing a bit of a challenge during these times is to never give up, keep praying and stay focused, it’s not easy but we will get it done.

To family members out there, try to be kind and supportive as much as you can as we all need help
at some point. Let’s look out for each other and stay positive,” she said. (Write Right PR Services)
