297 new cases of COVID-19

A total of 297 new COVID-19 cases, 140 males and 157 females, were reported for Friday, October 22.  The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 2,299 tests.

The new positives comprise 60 persons, who are under the age of 18, and 237 who are 18 years and older.

There were 671 people in isolation facilities, and 4,029 in home isolation.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded, since March last year, stand at 15,050 (7,286 males and 7,764 females).  To date, 128 lives have been lost to the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 372,219 tests since February 2020.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 146,575 (64.2 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of persons who are fully vaccinated is 120,715 (44.5 per cent of the total population or 52.9per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
