St Michael man remanded after surety withdraws

A St Michael man is on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison Dodds, awaiting a new surety for his $10 000 bail.

Wilfred Nurse, who is in his 70s, of Accomodation Road, Bush Ball had been on bail when he appeared before CHief Magistrate Ian Weekes on Thursday.

However, it was revealed that his surety had withdrawn after the accused told him that he would not be attending his court dates.

Police also disclosed that he had not been reporting to the police station as stipulated on every Thursday by noon.

The accused was given opportunities through police officers to contact a new surety to post his bail but was unsuccessful by the end of the day’s proceedings. He is now set to reappear before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on November 18 for another chance at bail.

Nurse is charged with unlawfully disposing on the the body of Rasheda Bascombe between January 2, 2002 and May 30, 2013
