Police destroy thousands of marijuana plants

Police on Saturday destroyed approximately 3 019 marijuana plants.

The plants were found in the areas of Lower Estate and Glebe Land in St. George, and Parish Land in Christ Church.

Acting Superintendent and Deputy Divisional Commander of the Southern Division Roderick Walcott said the plants were found as a result of police operations in both parishes.

No one was arrested.

Walcott said a decision was taken to destroy the marijuana plants given that they are not connected to any court cases.

There was a heavy security presence and the process was observed by members of the media, a Justice of the Peace and police officers.
