Once upon a time a teacher asked a class of fourth formers at a secondary school to define irony. One young boy without hesitation got up and declared that irony is a predominately black Caribbean country with a history of colonialism, heading towards becoming a republic state and two of its greatest planks – university education and tourism – are headed by white Europeans. The end.
