Brazil celebrates with Barbados

Brazil’s famous Christ the Redeemer statue in the city of Rio de Janeiro will be lit in Barbados’ national colours at 8 p.m. tonight in celebration of the island’s 55th anniversary of Independence and to mark its transition to a Parliamentary Republic.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,  the move is a collaboration between the Archdiocese of Sao Sebastiao do Rio De Janeiro and the Embassy of Barbados.

Barbados and Brazil are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations.
