COVID-19 Update: 165 new COVID-19 cases

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 165 new COVID-19 cases – 82 males and 83 females – on Thursday, December 2, from the 1,234 tests conducted.

Of the new cases, 34 persons were under the age of 18, and 131 were 18 years and older.

A total of 328 people were in isolation facilities, and 2,238 were in home isolation.

A 61-year-old unvaccinated man passed away at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility. There were 234 deaths from the virus, as at December 2.

The public health laboratory has carried out 440,369 tests since February last year, and recorded 25,792 cases (12,297 males and 13,495 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 153,816 (67.3 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of persons who are fully vaccinated is 137,485 (50.7 per cent of the total population or 60.2 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
