BHTA tribute to the late Dr. Jean Holder

by Rudy Grant,
CEO – Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA)

It is with great sadness that we learnt of the death of Dr. Jean Holder.  During his illustrious career, Holder’s dedication to the tourism industry has been exemplified by the immeasurable contributions he made while serving in different capacities at prominent Caribbean organisations including the Caribbean Tourism Research and Development Centre CTRC), the Caribbean Tourism Organisation(CTO) and LIAT.

The renaming of the Barbados Community College Hospitality Institute last year to the Jean and Norma Holder Hospitality Institute, in honour of Holder and his late wife, is a fitting tribute in recognition of their extensive work in hospitality and tourism.

His commitment to regional tourism over the years has left an indelible mark. He willingly shared his expertise and knowledge which assisted in the growth and development of this important industry.

We will be forever appreciative of his contributions, while his calm, soft-spoken disposition will be missed by all.

On behalf of the Chairman, Directors, members and staff of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA), I wish to convey sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Jean Holder.

May God strengthen you in this time of sorrow.
