Englishman still can’t get bail

Englishman Jonathan Christopher Dugdale remains on remand at Dodds in connection with two offences, including assaulting a police officer.

The 36-year-old, who is said to be homeless in Barbados, has been housed at the St Philip facility since late December 2021.

He was remanded for a further 28 days after he appeared before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Dugdale is accused of assaulting Police Constable Shawn Clarke in the execution of his duties, as well as damaging a shirt belonging to the Crown, intending to damage such property, or was reckless as to whether such property would be damaged, on December 23.

Police Constable Ralph Rollock again objected to bail for the accused as he has no fixed place of residence.

Asked by Magistrate Kim Butcher whether he had someone to sign bail on his behalf, Dugdale answered, “There is no one here with me. I could sign for it myself.”

The suggestion was not accepted by the court.

Given the circumstances, Magistrate Butcher sent him back to Dodds until April 14.

At his previous court appearance, Dugdale had told Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes he could be found at KFC Hastings if the court wanted to locate him.
