From serious bodily harm to murder

Everton Rommel Brathwaite is now facing a murder charge, after a serious bodily harm charge laid against him was upgraded.

When the 32-year-old man, who is said to have no fixed place of abode, appeared before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Sergeant Shane Chase disclosed that the previous charge had been withdrawn and Brathwaite was now charged with a capital offence.

Brathwaite is now accused of murdering Ricardo Wood on December 15, 2021.

Police had discovered the lifeless body of 45-year-old Wood on the compound of a business place on King Street, near White Park Road, St Michael, after responding to reports that a man had collapsed in the area around 9:35 p.m.

Brathwaite was again remanded to Dodds and is set to reappear before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes on April 25.
