Accused lawyer to deliver address on Friday

Attorney-at-law Ernest Winston Jackman has been given an extra day to prepare his address to the jury.

The accused lawyer who is on trial on theft and money laundering charges was expected to make his closing address on Thursday to the nine jurors hearing the case.

However when the matter was called before Madam Justice Pamela Beckles, in the No.5 Supreme Court this morning Jackman told the judge that he would need a little more time to prepare his address.

As such Justice Beckles adjourned the matter until Friday, May 27.

Jackman is accused of stealing $678 414.75 from HEJ Limited between June 23, 2006 and March 5, 2007. He is also accused of engaging in money laundering by disposing of the sum between June 23, 2006, and October 18, 2011.

The accused is representing himself while Principal Crown Counsel Krystal Delaney is the prosecutor.
