COVID-19 update: 63 new cases

A total of 63 people, 22 males and 41 females, tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, June 12, from the 333 tests carried out by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases comprised 10 persons under the age of 18, and 53 who were 18 years and older.

There were 32 people in isolation facilities, while 1,140 were in home isolation.

An 86-year-old unvaccinated man succumbed to the virus on Sunday.

As at June 12, there were 468 COVID-19 related deaths.

The public health laboratory has conducted 694,258 tests since February 2020, and recorded 82,318 COVID-19 cases (37,525 males and 44,793 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 162,586 (71.2 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of fully vaccinated persons is 153,057 (56.5 per cent of the total population or 67 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
