Barbados Soccer Academy on tour of Canada

The Barbados Soccer Academy (BSA) Under-18 team arrived safely in Canada yesterday to play in the Robbie International Tournament in Toronto.

Led by Director Jabez ‘Jack’ Bovell, BSA group landed at the Pearson Airport in Canada after flying with Air Canada.

Bovell said the objectives of the tour will be to secure academic and soccer scholarships, and professional contracts as well as opportunities to work and study in Canada. He also noted that BSA will seek to develop cultural relationships with various organizations in Canada.

Bovell announced that in 2023 BSA will invite teams from Canada, the United States of America, and Europe to compete in the Barbados Soccer Academy International showcase scheduled for July and August.

In addition, he noted that the BSA will engage various organizations and Universities to secure scholarships. He explained that over the last ten years BSA has acquired 44 scholarships and the strategic goal is to secure 20 scholarships per year.

According to Bovell while in Canada his group of 30 players, 12 of whom will be arriving on Saturday, July 2, because of rescheduled CXC and CAPE examinations will meet with Barbados Consul General to Canada Sonia Carter and Ambassador Gline Clarke.
