COVID-19 Update: 157 new positive cases

A total of 157 new COVID-19 cases, 71 males and 86 females, were recorded on Wednesday, July 6, from the 629 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.
The cases comprised 26 persons under the age of 18, and 131 who were 18 years and older.
The number of people in isolation facilities was 83, while 1,505 were in home isolation.
A 95-year-old partially vaccinated man passed away from the virus on Tuesday, July 5.
As at July 6, there were 478 COVID-19-related deaths.
The public health laboratory has conducted 709,101 tests since February 2020, and recorded 85,488 COVID-19 cases (39,124 males and 46,364 females).
Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of persons with at least one dose is 162,671 (71.2 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of fully vaccinated persons is 153,624 (56.7 per cent of the total population or 67.3 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.
