New café at revitalized El Sueño property in Christ Church is the second Starbucks store in the market

Today, Caribbean Coffee Traders Limited, the operating licensee of Starbucks in Barbados, announced the opening of its first drive-thru store in the market at the historic El Sueño property in Christ Church, located just minutes from Worthing Beach off of Highway 7 on the south coast of the island.

With the introduction of this new store format, Starbucks strives to meet Barbadian customers’ need for convenience, connection and personalization while creating new and meaningful experiences that uplift the everyday.

“This drive-thru café – our second location in the market – underscores Starbucks’ continued commitment to expanding store formats across the Caribbean and satisfying our customers’ growing demand for premium coffee on-the-go.”

Renovated through a thoughtful adaptive reuse design, the El Sueño drive-thru – which once housed a lighthouse that dated back to 1910 – is conveniently located across from Worthing Beach at the intersection of Garden Road and Highway 7 and between the towns of Bridgetown and Oistins. In addition to the convenient Drive Thru Window feature, the café features stunning murals using a special stencil work technique created by local artists Sandy Layne and Sonia Burke.

The drive-thru store is specially designed to provide a unique on-the-go experience in a safe and familiar way, while continuing to elevate the Starbucks Experience for customers in Barbados. The new location, with 15 partners (employees) proudly wearing the green apron, will serve as the ideal getaway for commuters looking to take a break from their journey or enjoy a handcrafted beverage by the sea.

Starbucks remains committed to adapting its customer experience for on-the-go occasions through formats such as drive-thru. Furthermore, with expanding digital convenience channels available, such as delivery, Starbucks and Caribbean Coffee Traders Limited continues to grow its portfolio with more ways to enhance the customer experience in Barbados and across the region.

Starbucks welcomes its customers at the new El Sueño location between 7:00am – 8:00pm Monday to Saturday and 10:00am to 7:00pm on Sundays. As with other stores across the region, social distancing measures and elevated sanitization practices for the safety of partners and customers will be implemented and updated as per local mandate.
