Carrington offering etiquette training for young ladies

Thirty-six-year-old Kay Carrington is the founder of The Perfectly Poised Etiquette Academy which she started July 1, 2022.

A graduate of the University of The West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, with a BSc in Hospitality and Tourism Management, and an MSc in Labour and Employment Relations, her company offers etiquette classes and workshops for individuals, small businesses and small groups.

“There is a specially designed programme just for girls six to 16 years. Some of the top-ics include Table Etiquette and Protocols, Sitting and Walking Gracefully, Personal Hygiene, Business Etiquette, Manners Maketh Man, Woman and Child, Loving and Respecting, just to name a few,” she said.

Carrington who is a former head girl of The Alexandra School said she decided to have a company that specialises in etiquette because there are a lot of social practices that the Barbadian public does not know.

“I saw that there was a need in the Barbadian society to have etiquette workshops. I also think more focus needs to be placed on girls and teaching and mould-ing them to be respectable young women in society.

As a single mother, teaching and instilling morals and good habits in my daughter has been very high on my priority list from the time she was very young.

I hope to teach, empower and mould some exceptional, outstanding and refined young ladies in the years to come as my mission is to educate, refine and empower,” she said.

Since starting her business, she said that she has had some overwhelming response for details on the girls’ programme.

“I am very excited and pleased to see that mothers out there have the same desire and vision for their daughters,” she said.

Carrington is seeking to join with primary and secondary schools in her new venture.

“I am hoping to partner with schools and reach little girls and teenagers across the island and I am looking forward to offering training sessions to businesses, schools and various institutions throughout the Caribbean, not just Barbados,” she said.

The businesswoman said that since being an entrepreneur she has realised that one should never give up on one’s dreams.

“It has taught me that not every day will be an easy one, but once you are passionate about what you are doing and committed, everything will fall into place.

Never quit and don’t ever give up on a dream. It also taught me to be strong and provided opportunities for me to tap into the creative skills I possess, and knowledge acquired over the years to produce a high-quality product and service that I think should be nothing less than exceptional at all times,” she said.

Carrington is also the founder of Kay Marie Consultancy (KMC) a company that offers Human Resource Management, Financial Planning and Customer Service Excellence.

She will be hosting a seminar on July 16th, 2022, entitled “The Boss Mom Seminar” where she will be sharing how to raise strong resilient daughters and start a successful business.

This will be at the Southern Palm Hotel from 2 to 5 p.m.  (Write Right PR Services)
