Grand Kadooment: Vendors anticipate good business

Vendors stationed in the Hothersal Turning  roundabout intersection of the highway are putting final touches on their preparations and have started to get sales as spectators gather to watch the bands in this year’s Crop Over festivities.
Those who spoke with Barbados TODAY said they are looking forward to a great day as they expressed glee over the space in which they have to operate this year.
Operator of Donna’s Kitchen Dale Forde-Prescod said while she was skeptical at first about the location, she was now pleased having set up shop.

The entrepreneur, who operated from the Mighty Grynner Highway for previous Crop Over festivals, said she was hoping for an excellent day in sales.
“We are going to try it and see how it goes and go from there,” she said.
“We are hoping for excellent sales today. So far it is looking good. We had some early sales and we are hoping to get lots more,” she added.

Meanwhile, the operators of Morris Variety told Barbados TODAY they were pleased with the size of the space in which the vendors had to ply their trade. They too, reported a good start to the day’s business.
“So far, so good. It is a lot more roomy,” said the vendor who would usually operate in the vicinity of the Barbados Lumber Company for previous Crop Over festivals.
The vendors have the usual variety of food and drinks on offer. Flags and umbrellas are also on sale.
Long before the 9 a.m. start time, patrons started to take up vantage points and make purchases, as they await the bands that will make their way from Warrens. (marlonmadden@barbadostoday.bb)
