#BTSpeakingOut – Today’s leaders have lost the plot

From time to time, the utterances of influential and leading personalities within Caricom leave a lot to be desired as well as several unanswered questions.

Recently, a statement was made to the effect that the shareholder governments of Leeward Island Air Transport are not legally obligated to pay severance, but only morally so. Who then is legally responsible?

Who are the owner(s) of LIAT?

Who do severed workers of LIAT turn to for compensation? Why would parliamentarians also designated “peoples’ representatives” , who with “locus standi”
carry the status and stature of legislators be remote and uninvolved actors in the maintenance of justice?

At this juncture, it is not difficult to realise that the emancipated working-class of the region is still bound by handcuffs and shackles of an economic and
psychological nature.

It is becoming easier and easier to accept that the work of Toussaint L’Overture,  Jean-Jacques Dessalines, Marcus Garvey, Clement Payne , Maurice Bishop and other Caribbean freedom-fighters is being squandered on the alter of political expediency. There is need for a dry passage through the Caribbean Sea.

Oh, how we long for the appearance of a Moses.
