#BTSpeaking – Questions must be asked about the justice

It is now apparently evident that one of the young men who was found shot into oblivion in Christ Church within the past 48 hours was on bail for two or three murder cases.

I have observed over the past few years that quite a number of murder victims were themselves on bail for murdering other persons.

This leads me to two related points. Are we having a situation where criminal elements are now taking the law into their own hands and executing persons they believe or know were responsible for the death of some of their fellow thugs?

This can only spiral out of control if the police force does not get a handle on the situation and do so very quickly.

And secondly, the Chief Justice of Barbados needs to carry out an investigation to find out if the granting of bail to accused murderers and multiple murderers is being done by judicial officers generally or if there is a specific judge granting this bail. If the latter is the case then our CJ needs to sit him/her down and ask, “why?”
