Belgrave congratulates athletes

Barbadians across the world are roaring once again for three prolific athletes who all  delivered sensational performances, which resulted in gold, silver and bronze medals at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Rasheed Belgrave, Chair of the Working Group on Youth, Sports and Juvenile Justice Reform for the Democratic Labor Party, heaped praises on Sada Williams and Jonathan Jones who captured gold and bronze respectively, in the women’s and men’s 400m finals on Sunday; and to Shane Braithwaite who netted the Silver Medal in the 110m hurdles last week.

“All the performances were exciting to watch and it was a truly joyful and historic moment for all Barbadians. They all embody the spirit of hard work and determination and they continue to demonstrate to our young boys and girls that we are capable of greatness,” Belgrave said.

This year marks the 17th time that Barbados has competed in the Commonwealth Games and this ranks as one of the country’s best international performances. (KC)
