#BTSpeakingOut – No mention, no money

I was not one of the 6 000 who was recognised for work done during the ongoing pandemic. But I was working tirelessly like the others that got mentioned.

Now I see government just went to parliament and voted $7 million to give each of these people $500.

I do not mind people getting money but I smell something self-serving about this. Since politicians study votes first and anything else after, these could be 6 000 votes being secured.

Multiply that by at least three family members and that could be 18 000 votes.

This might not be the motivation but no one can stop a person from thinking it is.

After all, 500 dollars is not enough to reward true heroism but it is enough to get a fellow to vote for you. I did not get mention so I won’t be getting a yen.
