Barbados: Tourism spurs 9.8 percent economic growth for third quarter

The Barbados economy has recorded six consecutive quarters of growth, again supported mainly by the tourism sector.
Delivering his economic review and outlook this morning, Central Bank Governor Cleviston Haynes reported that growth for the July to September quarter was recorded at 9.8 per cent, bringing the growth rate for the first nine months of this year to 10.1 per cent.
“During the third quarter, the resurgent  tourism sector helped catalyse economic activity and restore employment levels,” he added.
“The economy is not yet producing at pre-pandemic levels, but based on encouraging forward bookings, tourism is expected to sustain its rebound for the remainder of the year,” said Haynes. (marlonmadden@barbadostoday.bb)
