Positive youth banking on hard work, discipline

At a time when some young people are going down the wrong path and causing concern for the peace and safety of the general Barbadian citizenry, one young man is demonstrating that there are numerous young persons intent on being productive citizens.

Twenty-three-year-old Kevon Bovell is the owner of Top Tier Cleaning Services. The former student of Princess Margaret Secondary School has been operating his business for the past two years from his Oldbury, St Philip location.

What was the catalyst that led Bovell to become an entrepreneur?

The businessman who is currently studying Property Management at the University of The West Indies Open Campus said it has always been his dream to become a successful entrepreneur.

“As a child I knew that I wanted to be an entrepreneur. Since then, I have been fortunate to meet persons who want me to succeed. Being an entrepreneur has taught me that there may be a lot of obstacles in your way to become a successful entrepreneur but do not give up,” he said.

Bovell’s company currently offers cleaning services for residential, commercial and industrial companies and currently is offering a $500 special.

Shaakir Arthur an employee of Top Tier Cleaning Services busy at work.

“We are currently offering a special for our corporate clients where they can have their entity cleaned four times a month for $500 BDS. This is a deal and we have been receiving a lot of positive response about this special since we implemented it earlier this year on our social media platforms,” he said.

The journey as an entrepreneur has not always been easy for Bovell as earlier this year he was in a near fatal car accident and since recovering he is even more passionate about making all his dreams for Top Tier Cleaning Services a reality.

“Coming out of the accident all I can say is that God has a plan for my life and there is nothing that can stop me from fulfilling that plan. I am seeking to continue to promote my business as well as attracting additional corporate clients as I seek to expand,” he said.

His advice for any young persons who is seeking to become an entrepreneur is that starting from scratch is never easy but do not be afraid to work hard to achieve your goal.

“Do not shy away from hard work as this is what makes or breaks your business. Be disciplined and determined and your business will soar to astronomical heights,” he said.
