Christ Church man loses life

Police investigate the bushy area where the car driven by Randal Miller was found.

Police are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of a 64-year-old Christ Church man whose car ended up in a bushy area at the junction of Callender’s Main Road and Callender’s Crescent on Thursday morning.

Randal Miller, a resident of Callender’s Crescent, was pronounced dead at the scene where anxious and distraught family members had gathered.

Public Affairs and Communications Officer of the Barbados Police Service, Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss told reporters police received a report about the incident around 9:55 a.m.

“The caller said there was an accident involving a vehicle and the driver appeared to be motionless. Our personnel from the Oistins [Police Station] responded here. We saw a vehicle in a bushy area just opposite the junction and when we checked, we realised there was a male driver slouched over the driver’s wheel, motionless,” he said.

“We are still trying to get an idea of what exactly occurred. We cannot list it as a fatal collision at this stage; we do not know what transpired before and that is the purpose of the investigation.”

Police Inspector Carollyn Blackman-Alleyne who is attached to the Southern Division of the Barbados Police Service appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could help the investigation.

“We are asking anyone who has seen anything that they can call us at 211, the Oistins Police Station 418-2612, or any other police station which you consider to be comfortable to you. You can call us and tell us of your witness accounts of what transpired today,” she said.
