The Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited (ICBL) has maintained its commitment to local charities and service organizations through donations totalling BDS $60 000. Interim Chief Executive Officer of ICBL Goulbourne Alleyne presented the cheques for $10 000 each to six non-profit organizations during a presentation ceremony today at the ICBL Head Office. The six charities were The Challenor Creative Arts and Training Centre, The Barbados Red Cross, The Salvation Army, The Barbados Diabetes Foundation, The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Barbados and The Barbados Cancer Society. This is the second consecutive year that these specific organizations have benefitted from financial assistance from ICBL to assist with the delivery of their programmes and services to the Barbados community. Alleyne said Barbados continued to operate in challenging times, with access to basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter, special needs education, and healthcare beyond the reach of many. He therefore lauded the work of the organizations and noted that they work they do and the services they provide are too important to the community to be hindered by fear of inadequate funds and support. “ICBL’s commitment to the community in which we operate remains unfettered. Essentially, these charitable organizations receiving donations from us today are the conduits for us to do good to many Barbadians. Those who are less fortunate, those who are healing or undergoing treatments and therapy, those who need a temporary helping hand, and young children and adults who have special needs. Giving back to the community is very important to us, and by doing so, we fulfill our promise to be “there when you need us most,” Alleyne said. The call was also made for others who had the wherewithal to also support the work of the organizations. Alleyne said ICBL was grateful to be able to lend financial assistance and looked forward to the company’s generosity touching someone in need, while expressing hope that it may inspire others who can assist to also do so.
