Too much gobbledygook

Dear Editor,

Can you help this octogenarian understand the meaning of this comment?

“This country cannot afford the luxury of the disruption of policy or trajectory because we simply do not have the buffer to be able to recover. The reality is, the world in which we live is truly challenged on so many fronts, therefore it is important that we guard everything we have in order to become resilient …”

And this fagged-out cliche “fit for purpose” – what does it mean?

I am suffocating under the weight of the gobbledygook I’m hearing these days.
