Accounting firm makes donation for QEH patients

Patients on Ward C12 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) will have a reason to smile this Christmas when they are presented with personal care packages donated by staff of accounting firm Baker Tilly Barbados.

This year, the staff of the Upton, St Michael business took the initiative to support two charities, the Barbados Cancer Society (BCS) and the Barbados Prison Fellowship.

On Thursday, Audit Supervisor at Baker Tilly Kendra Buvardo handed over the items which included toilet paper, non-scented creams, wipes, soaps, baby oil and sanitisers to the BCS which will be responsible for distributing the items to the patients.

Buvardo told Barbados TODAY that she and her colleagues wanted to spread holiday cheer to the patients and help them to have a comfortable Christmas away from their homes.

“We just want them to have a comfortable season, as they are going to be in the hospital. We just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas,” she said.

Client Services and Welfare Officer at the BCS Olivia Thornhill, who accepted the donation, extended gratitude to Baker Tilly for providing the personal care items for the patients.

She gave the assurance the donation would be put to good use.

“We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Baker Tilly for this generous donation for those patients who will be on the ward over the Christmas holidays. This package is certainly appreciated and we are sure that all of the patients will be uplifted and they will be filled with joy to receive this wonderful donation,” Thornhill said.
