SSA makes another appeal to City businesses

Carl Alf Padmore

The Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) is again appealing to business owners in and around Bridgetown to properly dispose of boxes that once held goods.

SSA Public Relations Officer Carl Alff Padmore told Barbados TODAY that the repeated failure of some storeowners to collapse the boxes is making it difficult for SSA workers to collect the garbage.

“We have made appeal after appeal and to no avail. Store owners are not collapsing the boxes. When the boxes are left like that… street characters and other persons who are living on the street are making a mess of the cardboard boxes.

“For 2023, this cannot be the practice.  We must enforce proper disposal methods,” Padmore stressed.

Padmore again advised that storeowners should flatten the boxes, tape or tie them so they can be easily removed.
