The HER Tour, an exciting female exclusive spoken word event, took place at a packed VO lounge on the posh West Coast on December 21st.

Event organiser and the evening’s host, Carmen, deemed it a major success. “There was definitely a good crowd. Spoken word in my opinion is a special kind of entertainment and with the theme of HER Tour, it works very well. The support and feedback of the West Coast crowd was heartwarming,” she said.

Featured artists included the very talented Tariro Mavondo, the insightful and well expressed Metallic Words and the sultry Kattimoni. The ladies brought it all to the stage for a pumped audience who lapped it all up. Each artist performed all original pieces centred around female empowerment, respect of the divine feminine and freedoms.

Mavondo, who was very well received with Give Me Women, Self Portrait 1 & 2 and The One, described the evening as “a beautiful constellation of very powerful women. They each brought their own unique take on femininity, spirituality, female body politics, healthy versus unhealthy dynamics within male and female relationships… a real coming together of sisterhood and womanhood,” she said.

Featured artistes included the very talented Tariro Mavondo.

Metallic Words delivered insightful pieces. She was very well received.

The sensual Kattimoni attracted positive feedback. Her style of spoken word was
praised.

She loved the crowd’s response. “The audiences were captivated, moved and listening. The feedback afterwards was very positive and very moving.”

Meanwhile, Kattimoni, who performed Woman of the World and Medicine Woman, said: “I felt like the evening was wonderful and well received. It was a very powerful representation of sisterhood and women supporting other women to stand in our voices and to share in our stories,” she said appreciatively.

Reflecting on the event, Metallic Words added: “I think the VO Lounge was the perfect choice to start the HER tour off; the space is artistic and intimate and the audience was great to interact with.” Metallic performed Anacaona, Bridges, Milk and Honey and the powerful Girl Speak Lighting.

Carmen explained why the focus of women became the theme of the show. “It is super important to me that women know themselves and their own value and also value and appreciate other women, and that men do the same,” she said. Carmen graced the stage with other pieces, including I AM More, I AM Full, The Master and Garment of Love, which was definitely a crowd favourite.

Carmen promises that there will be more tours to come for those anxious for live content. “As I say in my piece The Wind is A Woman, there isn’t a soul untouched by the woman. For this reason, I’ve made the HER the first of more tours to come so that persons can be reintroduced to the woman – the strong woman, the vulnerable, the spiritual, the sensual and the creative woman,” she said.
