Tourist stabbed

An American female visitor is reported to be in serious condition after being stabbed on Brownes Beach, Bay Street, St Michael around 7:43 p.m. on Thursday.

According to Communications and Public Affairs Officer of the Barbados Police Service Inspector Rodney Inniss, the victim and her partner were walking along the beach when a man attempted to rob them.

“An altercation ensued and, as a result, the female companion was injured…. She was immediately rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital… and we were told by medical staff that she is in serious condition but not life-threatening at this stage,” he told reporters in an update earlier Friday.

Police are continuing investigations.(BT)
