Local News SDA Church in initiative to urge residents to return to God Emmanuel Joseph13/01/20230422 views About 7 000 people are expected to converge at the Farley Hill National Park in St Peter on Saturday for the Church Project Reset initiative aimed at encouraging people in Barbados to seek God. It is part of the National Convention of the East Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists which is on a campaign to not only restore its membership but to encourage all Barbadians who have turned away from God to return. “The emphasis is on trying to bring people in general, the Seventh-day Adventist membership in particular, to a point of restoration in their relationship with God, with the community, with their neighbour, with friends, and with family, especially after the restrictions we have experienced in the COVID-19 pandemic which have gone on for the last two to three years,” president of the East Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Pastor Anthony Hall said in an interview with Barbados TODAY on Thursday. “So, what we are trying to achieve is to bring people back out to a face-to-face communion in worship, in fellowship, and in praise, and to offer them an opportunity to perhaps meet with persons they have not seen for a long time. We anticipate that the audience would be about 7 000 persons or even more. We are inviting all members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church as well as people in the community and visitors who are interested in worshipping with us,” he added. The church leader also announced that apart from the delivery of the gospel message, the convention will also feature ministry by the Barbados Pathfinder Band, as well as puppetry, drama, praise and worship, special items of music, and short instrumental and vocal concerts. “This is something that we believe can impact the entire community of Barbados and set us on a good footing for the beginning of the year where we can renew our commitments to God and where we make commitments and pledges to get back to the worship of God throughout this country,” Pastor Hall declared. The convention runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a lunch break and attendees are urged to dress casually but modestly in keeping with outdoor worship. (EJ)
