Boost for Breast Screening Programme

The Barbados Cancer Society’s Breast Screening Programme will start the year with much-needed financial assistance, thanks to a BBD $10,000 donation from Sagicor.

The leading insurance and financial institution recently presented the funds to programme officials, concluding the company’s 2022 Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.

During the month of October, Sagicor sold their specially designed: “Are you seeing the signs?” T-shirts to raise funds to assist the Cancer Society with the maintenance of their all-important screening and education outreach programmes.

Paul Inniss, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Sagicor Life Inc, said the 2022 campaign urged persons not to wait until the signs present themselves, as they may not always be obvious, but to use screening as the first line of defence.

“In the ongoing fight against breast cancer, the best approach has been and continues to be early detection. We are pleased to be able to play our part in this fight, by encouraging both men and women to be vigilant, and to employ self-examination as a convenient, no-cost option, in addition to regular physical exams by a medical professional,” he explained.
