Parkinson Memorial School closed today

The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training is informing staff, parents and guardians of the Parkinson Memorial Secondary School that the school will be closed today, Thursday, February 2, 2023.

On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, several students and some teachers in a certain block of the school complained of feeling unwell and had to seek medical attention. Medical attention was administered, and reports indicate that all persons are now recovering.

On the evening of February 1, 2023, the National Petroleum Corporation (NPC) used leak detection equipment while the Barbados Fire Department tested for the presence of flammable gases in the areas of concern. Both agencies found no evidence of any gases in these areas. The Ministry of Health and Wellness will continue its investigations on Thursday, February 2, 2023.

Teachers and students are asked to access their classes in the online environment. Parents and guardians are asked to listen for further updates on the reopening of the school. (BGIS)
