Motorists to pay more for gasoline and diesel

Effective midnight Sunday, February 19, the retail price of gasoline and diesel will be adjusted upward, while kerosene will remain unchanged.

Gasoline will now be $4.08 per litre, an increase of 14 cents, while diesel will go up by 20 cents to $3.85 per litre.  Kerosene continues to be $2.25 per litre.

The cap on both the Value Added Tax (VAT) and retail prices on gasoline and diesel was put in place in 2022, and ended on January 31, 2023, to shield consumers from the full increase of refined petroleum products.

The Ministry of Energy and Business is now advising that the full VAT of 17.5% will be fully reinstated within the price structures from midnight Sunday, February 19. (BGIS)
