Update – Fire destroys house at Allens Land, Clevedale, Black Rock

A family of five is now homeless after fire completely destroyed the house they were renting at #50 Allens Land, Clevedale, Black Rock, St Michael.

According to Station Officer Roger Bourne from the Bridgetown Division, they received the call at 7:22 a.m. and the first vehicle arrived on the scene at 7:33 a.m. The officers were able to contain the blaze and no other houses were involved.

The fire service, along with the police, are investigating the origin of the fire.

St. Michael West Central MP Ian Gooding-Edghill, who was on the scene, thanked the fire service for doing a fantastic job and containing the fire, thereby minimizing damage. The Minister notes that the community is a close-knit one and all efforts are underway to provide assistance.
