A CALL TO HOLINESS

Scores of believers today joined worship at the St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cathedral on Bay Street for Ash Wednesday Service, marking the start of the Lenten season. Bishop Neil Scantlebury told the packed congregation to seek holiness during the 40-day period of Lent. He made a strong call for believers to pray more, fast, give more and genuinely forgive others.

Bishop Scantlebury urged: “We have 40 days to develop an attitude of prayer. We have 40 days to develop an attitude of alms giving. We have 40 days of developing an attitude of fasting. Let us start today on this Ash Wednesday with the grace of God that we may grow in holiness through prayer, fasting, alms giving and forgiving one another.” Here, Bishop Scantlebury administers ashes to the forehead of this worshipper.
