Statement by Minister Dr William Duguid on the comments made on a DLP platform

Below is the full statement:

“Recently,  former Prime Minister Freundel Stuart is reported to have said in a section of the press that this Government intended to move Government Headquarters from Bay Street for a tourism project. This could not be further from the truth and Mr Stuart must be obviously trying to setup a straw man, but clearly, he does not have the facts at all.

“The fact is that the Government is looking to further develop the site at Bay Street to improve and modernise the Government offices on that site by adding another two buildings to this facility and making more floor space available for Government Offices.

“This, together with better parking facilities and  improved office space for the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Finance, will not only offer better working conditions for the staff, but also reduce Government’s rental bill, which has been a focus of this Government from the time we came to office In 2018.

“Mr Stuart, like his current leader, would do well to get his facts straight before coming to the public with fanciful tales, fake news and misinformation.”
