Queen’s College and St Leonard’s Boys win football titles

Queen’s College and St Leonard’s boys are the kings of schoolboy football in Barbados.
The boys from Husbands, St James captured the Barbados Secondary School’s Football League title by defeating Coleridge and Parry 2-0 last night in a highly anticipated final at the Wildey Turf.
Queen’s College captain and Barbados Under-17 national player Ronan Lee produced the opener in the 15th minute.
Thierry Ince then doubled their advantage in the 55th minute to ensure Queen’s College tasted sweet victory and gave principal Dr David Browne the perfect retirement gift.
After several years as head teacher at the school, yesterday was Browne’s final day on the job and the celebrations were memorable.
Meanwhile, St Leonard’s Boys were crowned champions of the Under-16 league after they beat the St Michael School 2-1 earlier.
Substitute Jamarrio Yarde scored the opener in the 54th minute before Rueben Garnes-Alleyne scored from a free kick ten minutes later.
Ari Manning slotted home from the penalty spot just after the hour mark but St Leonard’s Boys held on to claim yet another schoolboy football title.
