19-year-old woman is country’s latest road fatality

A 19-year-old woman is dead following a collision along Rices Main Road, St Philip, Friday night.
The victim has been identified as Quiara Callender, formerly of  Nursery #2, Four Roads, St Philip.
Police say that around 8:30 pm, Callender was in the company of a neighbour walking along the roadway in the area of the Pavillion when they both were struck. The driver of the vehicle did not stop.
Callender and her neighbour were taken to the QEH where Callender was pronounced dead. The neighbour, a male, had minor injuries and was treated and discharged.
Police say their investigations are at a critical stage. They are appealing to the driver of that vehicle, who they believe must know that they struck someone or some object, to turn themselves in to any Police Station to report this matter. They can do so alone or accompanied by a friend or attorney.
Police are also appealing to the general public that should anyone have any knowledge about the circumstances surrounding this matter, to contact the District C station at 416 8200 / 8204 or any Police Station or Police Emergency at 211 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 8477 (TIPS).
