Big crowd enjoy sweet sounds of pan

Lovers of the absolutely sweet sound of Caribbean pan today took over the lush National Botanical Gardens for a special treat of pan music at the  Republic Bank Pandemonium on Sunday.

A large crowd gathered despite early evening rains to capitalize on the free event at every vantage point at Waterford, St Michael.

First up was the Republic Bank Steelband on the first trailer which played a mix of old and new songs.

On the second trailer was the St Leonard’s School and the boys delivered mixes including Maroon 5’s Memories, Rihanna’s Lift Me Up from Wakanda Forever and others which they were warmly received.

Also making an appearance on the big trailer trucks was the Barbados Community College ensemble who played pieces including popular medleys such as Fast Star by Richard Stoute and Wendy Alleyne’s Thing About You and Stand By Love featuring Alleyne and The Dynamics.

Spotted in the VIP section were official diplomats from the Embassy of China, former President of the Democratic Labour Party Verla DePeiza, Chairman of the National Cultural Foundation Dr Jasmine Babb; her husband Starcom Network News manager  Stetson Babb; Director of the National Library  Service Jennifer Yarde and Deputy Director of the NCF Sheldon Hope.
