BPWCCUL employees set to return to work on Monday

th . The meeting, held on Saturday,  July 15th achieved several mutually acceptable breakthroughs for the Union and Management of the BPWCCUL and its subsidiaries, CAPITA Finance Inc. and CAPITA Insurers Brokers Agreement was reached on several areas of previous contention including:

  • Treatment of Overtime Payments
  • Performance Incentive Pay
  • Internal Salary Adjustments
Employees of the three companies have been off the job since Friday. BWU Deputy General Secretary, Dwaine Paul expressed his appreciation to the company delegates for their steadfastness throughout the marathon negotiations. “This is indeed a victory for the workers and the BWU. However, we will monitor closely to ensure all agreements are honoured, and the paths carved out for future actions are followed. We take immense pride in our members standing up for their rights, and while we look forward to management upholding their end of the bargain, rest assured that BWU will remain vigilant,” said Paul. Group CEO of BPWCCUL, Glyne Harrison expressed his sincere gratitude to all parties involved in the negotiations for their patience and commitment throughout the negotiation process. Harrison said the agreement reached demonstrates BPWCCUL’s commitment to collaboration and mutual respect, and stated it lays the foundation for a stronger, more productive future. He expressed his regrets and apologies to members and customers of the Group for the inconvenience experienced while workers were not available to serve and acknowledged that it was also a difficult period for the various Boards, Management and staff across the companies as service was significantly impacted in a manner they would not wish to see repeated. Harrison also acknowledged that he expected the spirit of collaboration and cooperation to continue through to the achievement of shared goals and objectives that will drive the Group of Companies forward. Both the BWU and the BPWCCUL are confident that the agreements reached will contribute to a mutually beneficial working environment and will further strengthen the organisations’ commitment to their employees and members.
