Former vice president and presidential candidate of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) Fabian Jones has been thrown into a state of mourning following the untimely passing of his father, Clyde Squires.

Around 5:50 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to a traffic collision involving a car and 71-year-old Squires, along Lodge Road, Christ Church.

The elderly man of Cliff Cottage, St John, who was identified by a family member, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Barbados TODAY‘s efforts to reach out to Jones proved futile.

However, in a post on his Facebook page, the grieving son expressed the pain he was feeling over the loss of his father.

“He was to enjoy his old age and become feeble and cross over at 120 years old, but not like this. I am broken and in need of prayers. No long conversation, just tell me, ‘bless’.

“When you see me or interact with me, if you lost your dad, you may know what to say, but if you haven’t, once again, just say ‘bless’. This is too much, but my dad has died tragically. Talk about pain in any language,” he wrote.
