50 children in St George South get back-to-school supplies from DLP’s Dale Rowe

Fifty children in the St George South constituency have received essential school items just in time for the new academic year through a venture launched by the Democratic Labour Party’s prospective candidate for the area, Dale Rowe.

The students from the Workmans, St Judes, and Ellerton primary schools, each received backpacks, books and stationery, while several benefitted from donations of school uniforms as the DLP branch hosted a Back-to-School event at the White Rabbit Bar and Restaurant in Greens Saturday evening.

Thanking the various sponsors, Rowe said the endeavour was a way of giving back to the community by ensuring that some families who were struggling received a helping hand.

He told Barbados TODAY that the undertaking would not be a one-off, as other projects were in the pipeline.

“This is not going to be the only venture we will be doing. Every three months, we will be doing a lot of outreach programmes to assist parents and the children as they are our future, and we have to ensure that they have the relevant materials to get back into school.  Right now, things are very hard for a lot of parents, so I know that by assisting them with these things, the children will be very comfortable going back into school,” he said.
