Prosecution closes case in indecent assault matter

Prosecutors for the State on Wednesday closed their case against a St Michael man accused of indecently assaulting a woman over a decade ago.

Jamal Andre Ricardo Walrond, of Atwell Land, Ivy Main Road, who is represented by Senior Counsel Angella Mitchell-Gittens, will on Thursday put forward his defence.

Principal State Counsel Olivia Davis and State Counsel Eleazar Williams are the prosecutors.

Walrond is accused of indecently assaulting a female on January 19, 2011.

Nine jurors were empanelled on Tuesday and began hearing evidence in the matter resided by Justice Elwood Watts in Supreme Court No. 2A.

On Wednesday, the jury heard evidence from the complainant and three police officers who were involved in the matter before the state’s case came to a close.
